Co-Mayor Bucak Inspects Flood-Hit Silvan
Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayor Serra Bucak inspected Silvan district, where torrential rain caused flooding, and listened to the demands of residents affected by the floods.
Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayor Serra Bucak inspected Silvan district, where heavy rain and hail on 1 October caused flooding. Co-Mayor Bucak was accompanied by Silvan Municipality Co-Mayors Sevim Biçici and Kadri Esen, council members and DİSKİ General Manager Mehmet Şerifoğlu.
Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality, Silvan Municipality and DİSKİ teams began water drainage, road clearance and cleaning operations from the first hours of the rainfall and worked continuously to address the damage and restore daily life to normal.
Co-Mayor Bucak listens to residents
After inspecting the flooded areas, Co-Mayor Bucak visited the affected neighbourhoods one by one and met with residents who had suffered losses. Listening to their demands, Co-Mayor Bucak emphasised that the municipality was standing by the people of Silvan with all its resources and conveyed a message of solidarity.
Co-Mayor Bucak said they would swiftly implement permanent solutions to address sudden rainfall caused by the climate crisis across the city.
Teams continue working around the clock
Remaining on alert in case of further rainfall, the teams will continue water drainage and infrastructure improvement works without interruption until the risk has been fully eliminated.
