New Term Begins at Zarokistan Centres

The 2026–2027 term has begun at Zarokistan 450 Evler, Zarokistan Bağcılar Day Care Centre and two playrooms, which operate under Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality’s multilingual and multicultural approach to public services. A total of 508 children across the four centres will have their social and personal development supported through drama, music, theatre, philosophy, sports and arts activities.

Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality continues its work to support children’s development, strengthen their social lives and make life easier for families. The 2026–2027 pre-school service term has begun with an orientation week at Zarokistan 450 Evler, Zarokistan Bağcılar Day Care Centre, Sümerpark Playroom and Social Housing Playroom, all operating under the Children’s Services Unit of the Department of Social Services.

508 Children to Benefit from Services at Four Centres

During the new pre-school service term, a total of 508 children will benefit from the Metropolitan Municipality’s pre-school services: 138 at 450 Evler Zarokistan, 150 at Bağcılar Zarokistan, 160 at Sümerpark Playrooms and 60 at Social Housing Playrooms.

Children to Develop Skills in Various Areas

Children aged 3 to 6 at Zarokistan Nurseries and Day Care Centres will develop a range of skills throughout the pre-school service term.

Drama, music, theatre, philosophy, sports and arts workshops will be organised to support children’s social and personal development. Their daily nutritional needs will be met through breakfast, lunch and snacks planned by specialist dietitians.

Pre-School Services to Be Delivered in Multiple Languages

In line with the Metropolitan Municipality’s approach to public services based on multilingualism and multiculturalism, pre-school services at the nurseries and day care centres will be provided on weekdays from 08:00 to 16:00.

Şevin Anık, Head of the Children’s Services Unit within Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality’s Department of Social Services, said in her assessment of the 2026–2027 pre-school service term that they aim to provide high-quality services that support children’s development.

Anık said: “Today, we have begun the 2026–2027 service term at the Zarokistan Nurseries and Day Care Centres and Playrooms, which provide multilingual services under the Children’s Services Unit of Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality’s Department of Social Services. We attach great importance to supporting children’s development, strengthening their social skills and supporting families. Our aim is to provide a high-quality service that supports children’s development and ensures that every child feels valued and safe.”
