Students Starting University for the First Time to Receive TRY 25,000 in Education Support

Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality will provide a total of TRY 25,000 in education support to students entering university for the first time in the 2026–2027 academic year. Applications for the support will be accepted from 7 to 25 October.

Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality is continuing its education support programme to promote equal opportunities in education and help cover the educational expenses of students starting university. The programme, administered by the Department of Social Services, aims to ease the financial burden of education expenses on students and their families who need financial support.

TRY 25,000 in total support

Students who meet the application requirements will receive a total of TRY 25,000 in education support. Payments are planned to be made in two instalments: TRY 10,000 in November 2026 and TRY 15,000 in April 2027. Depending on the budget and implementation conditions, the payment may instead be made in a single instalment or the instalment amounts may be revised.

Applications open from 7 to 25 October

Students wishing to apply for education support can submit their applications between 7 and 25 October via egitimdestek.diyarbakir.bel.tr.

Students admitted to state universities through general aptitude examinations rather than central placement, as well as students admitted to 100% scholarship programmes at foundation or private universities, must submit documents confirming their admission and student status in person to the Department of Social Services.

Eligibility requirements

The support is available to students who, according to the 2026 ÖSYM placement results, have been admitted for the first time to an associate or undergraduate programme at a state university, or to a 100% scholarship associate or undergraduate programme at a foundation or private university.

Applicants must have been residing in Diyarbakır before 21 July 2026, be aged 30 or under and demonstrate a financial need for education support.

Documents required for applications

Applicants will be required to provide a current student certificate, a document showing their address history, a document listing the people residing in the same household, and the most recent six months’ payslips or Social Security Institution (SGK) service records for both parents. Parents who are not employed must also provide their SGK service records.

Students admitted to 100% scholarship programmes at foundation or private universities must also provide documentation confirming their university placement and scholarship status.

To receive the payments, applicants must provide the IBAN details of a bank account held in the student’s name. Parents’ IBAN details will also be requested during the application process. For students under the age of 18, a bank account must be opened with parental consent.

Who is not eligible

Students receiving education support from district municipalities in Diyarbakır will not be eligible to receive the Metropolitan Municipality’s education support for the same academic year.

Students enrolled in open education, distance education or evening programmes, as well as students studying abroad, including in Cyprus, are not eligible for the programme.
