Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality has completed a 40-kilometer irrigation canal project to irrigate 9,550 decares of land in Kulp, Lice and Hani districts. One thousand 180 farmers will benefit from the project.Â

The Department of Rural Services continues its efforts to develop agriculture and animal husbandry. The teams of the department produce projects to use water efficiently throughout the city and to bring water to thirsty lands.
Within the scope of agriculture development projects, a protocol was signed between the Metropolitan Municipality and the Southeastern Anatolia Project (GAP) Regional Development Administration.

Farmers will smile
In this context, 10 thousand 500 meters of closed pipe, 13 thousand 250 meters of open canal in Uzbek Neighborhood of Kulp district, 6 thousand 500 meters of open canal, 26 meters of bend, 23 meters of stone wall in Baharlar Neighborhood of Lice district, 1 thousand 500 meters of closed pipe, 8 thousand 250 meters of open canal, 77 meters of stone wall and 120 meters of bend in Topçular Neighborhood of Hani district.

Thus, a total of 40 kilometers of irrigation canals, 28 kilometers of which are open and 12 kilometers of which are closed, have been completed.

One thousand 180 farmers will benefit from the project, which will irrigate 9 thousand 550 decares of land through closed and open canals in Kulp, Lice and Hani.
