Serra Bucak, Co-Mayor of Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality, inspected the Integrated Solid Waste Management (EKAY) Facility and stated that it is important to separate waste at home, work and school.
Co-Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality Serra Bucak examined the stages that waste goes through at the Diyarbakır Integrated Solid Waste Management Facility in Karacadağ. Co-Mayor Bucak received information from officials about the facility.
Stating that it is very important to separate waste at the source, at home, at work and at school, Co-Mayor Bucak said, “How can we carry this to the home environment? We need to talk about this in a holistic way.”
Pointing out the importance of answering the question marks in people's minds, Bucak said that citizens should be told how the waste is separated on site, how it is transported and what it is transformed into afterwards. Stating that the system should be built and developed with more modern methods, Bucak exchanged views with the unit chiefs regarding the planned implementation project.
Co-President Bucak was accompanied by Secretary General Emrullah Gördük, Deputy Secretary General Reşat Bakan, Head of Environmental Protection and Control Department İbrahim Yalçın and council members.
